Bedrooms are one of my favourite places to use Chicago Grey. When you have several pieces of furniture close together, this colour creates a serene, cohesive look that still feels light and airy. You can change bedding, cushions, curtains, or décor as often as you like — Chicago Grey always adapts and always looks stunning.

I once painted a large curved-front chest of drawers in Chicago Grey and finished it with Black Wax. The wax settled into the curves like natural shadowing, giving the piece depth and elegance without overpowering the colour. In softer spaces, White Wax is beautiful too — it lightens the grey just enough to create a dreamy, restful finish.

Creative ways to use Chicago Grey

Chicago Grey is incredibly versatile. It can lean French, industrial, Scandinavian, coastal, or classic depending on what you pair it with. Because it sits so comfortably in the middle of the spectrum, it works with warm colours, cool colours, neutrals, brights — even orange and green. It’s one of those rare colours that never clashes and never feels out of place.
