The Orange Edit: Warm Paint Ideas for Bold Interiors

The Orange Edit celebrates the warmth, vibrancy, and creative potential of orange paint in home décor. Whether you're drawn to earthy terracotta tones or bold citrus hues, this guide explores how The Orange Edit can transform your space with confidence and flair.

Why Orange Works

Orange is more than just a colour — it’s an energy. From sunlit ochres to rich rusts, orange evokes warmth, optimism, and creativity. It pairs beautifully with neutrals like linen and stone, adds depth to navy and charcoal, and brings out the golden undertones in timber and brass. Whether used as a feature wall or a subtle accent, orange invites personality into your home.

Annie Sloan Inspiration

Annie Sloan’s palette offers a masterclass in expressive colour. Shades like Barcelona Orange and Scandinavian Pink provide a bold yet versatile foundation for upcycled furniture, stencilled details, and layered finishes. These colours work beautifully with waxes and washes, allowing you to create depth and texture that feels both artisanal and modern.

Styling Tips

Use orange on a single wall to anchor a room with warmth.

Highlight architectural details with stencilled motifs in burnt orange or paprika.

Upcycle furniture with Annie Sloan’s orange tones for a statement piece that feels curated.

Pair with natural textures — rattan, linen, raw timber — to balance vibrancy with calm. The Orange Edit in Action

The Orange Edit

Warm orange paint colours create a statement; catching the eye, and seeking attention. Spotted Wardrobe by Beau Ford

Painter in Residence Beau Ford created this fun, colourful children’s wardrobe using Chalk Paint in complementary orange and blue.

The outside of the wardrobe has been painted in a simple mix of Barcelona Orange and Pure, creating a peachy-orange colour. I love the way Beau picked its complementary colour, Provence, to paint the inside of the wardrobe. She stamped spots in Pure on to the surface, starting at the bottom of the wardrobe and radiating out towards the top. She then finished the project with Clear Chalk Paint Wax to protect the surface.
